Women in Private Practice Code of Conduct

By agreeing to the Code of Conduct, I will:

Be careful and thoughtful in the way that I communicate. I will conduct myself professionally and be kind to others. I will not disparage other WPP members. I understand that harassment and exclusionary behavior are not acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Violent threats or language directed against another person;
  • Discriminatory jokes and language;
  • Posting sexually explicit or violent material;
  • Personal insults, especially those using racist or sexist terms;
  • Unwelcome sexual attention;
  • Harassment of others (if someone asks you to stop, then stop); or
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

The Code of Conduct applies to all areas of WPP: meetings, emails, listserv and website activity/postings.

If a WPP member suspects that the Code of Conduct may have been violated, they are is encouraged to contact a member of the Leadership Committee to discuss the suspected violation.

Failure to follow the Code of Conduct may result in suspension and/or permanent removal from the WPP community.

Women in Private Practice Listserv Guidelines

Members of our WPP Leadership Committee moderate the WPP listserv. Our goal is for WPP members to use the listserv to create a community of therapists. Members like to ask questions and to get feedback from other group members. We also use the listserv to share information about our practices, client resources, office rentals, upcoming activities, etc. We WPP moderators do our best to approve postings within one business day. Holidays and weekends may be longer. Occasionally a moderator will ask a posting member to modify a message. Very rarely, a message will be denied because it is felt to be inappropriate. Members can post to the WPP listserv at: wpp-utah@googlegroups.com The WPP listserv is for members only. Posts from non-members are automatically rejected. Contact us if you have questions or feedback. The list serve moderators are coordinated by Amy Fehlberg. If you have questions about the listserve or are interested in being a moderator, please contact Amy Fehlberg at amy@dramyfehlberg.com or 435-901-0759

Listserv Rules:

  • Email subject line should include issue, insurance (when appropriate) and location.

  • We do not allow Reply-to-all responses. Reply directly to the person who posted a message. “Thank you” and “I have enough referrals” messages should be sent to respondents individually. If there is sufficient interest in a discussion topic, interested members should start a separate email discussion outside of WPP.

  • Use a respectful tone towards both clients and other therapists. Please follow the WPP code of conduct. https://womeninprivatepractice.wildapricot.org/Mission-and-Code-of-Conduct

  • Protect client confidentiality. Exclude client contact info or names and be mindful to avoid giving too much personal detail about a client.

  • Do not discuss the rates you or other therapists charge. This is considered illegal behavior under price fixing laws and the FTC. https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/competition-guidance/guide-antitrust-laws/dealings-competitors/price-fixing

  • Do not send more than two emails per topic or event.

  • Only reply to a posting if you meet all the criteria being requested, eg. insurance, location, issue, etc.

  • Be succinct and make the content of a posting relevant to therapists and their clients.

  • Occasional postings about advocacy or social justice issues may be posted if approved by the moderator. To post an advocacy e-mail, use “Advocacy”  in your subject line.

  • No politically partisan e-mails.

  • Postings and replies should include your full name and contact information at the bottom of the message.

If you have any questions about the WPP listserv, or you need to change your listserv e-mail address, please contact listserv manager
